Circulation

From the entrance hall of the first floor you walk up the stairs into the library.

The service desk on the 2nd floor is open from 10 – 18, Mon. – Thu. 10 - 17, Fri. (The Library is open from 8:30 am).

At the service desk one can borrow books and return items, reserve material and get guidance and assistance. The staff provides general services and attend library business and requires at the desk and through telephone and email. The email address of the circulation service is utlan@landsbokasavnid.fo.

It is possible to renew loans up to six times if no other borrower is waiting for the material. By registering into bokasavn.fo the users can renew their loans. See Bókasavn.fo.

In the library there is a common reading space, a reading room and a special reading desk for the Preservation Section. Materials from the Faroese National Collection can be used at any available table in the reading space and room, but manuscripts and materials from private archives are only to be used at the special reading desk. The common reading space and the reading room has about 30 working tables, two of which have computers to work on.

Visitors are requested to register their name in the guest book and leave their over-coat and bag in wardrobes or closets in the entrance hall before entering the reading area.

Faroese National Collection

Requests for items for the reading room, can be sent through an email or by filling out a request at the service desk and then the staff finds the requested material for you. The material forms a part of the Preservation Section and is therefore not for circulation.
